North India Wildlife Tour

Tour Duration: 12 Nights / 13 Days
Destinations Covered: Delhi - Rishikesh - Corbett National Park - Agra - Bharatpur - Sawai Madhopur - Ranthambore Tiger Park - Jaipur - Neemrana - Delhi

Day 1 - Arrive Delhi.
Met at the International Airport by our airport representative and transfer to the Hotel. Overnight stay at the Hotel.

Lakshman Jhula, Rishikesh

Day 2 - Surface drive to Rishikesh
Morning post breakfast drive to reach Rishikesh. Check in at Glass House on the Ganges. Overnight stay at the Glass House on the Ganges. Afternoon explore temples and Ashrams of Rishikesh. Overnight at the hotel.

Rishikesh - Rishikesh makes a wonderful entry point to the four major Hindu pilgrimage centres - Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. It is also known as 'Yoga Capital of the World' and has a number of yoga and meditation centers to boast of. It has also been increasingly attracting the attention of adventure tourists from all over the world because of the exciting opportunities of trekking and white water rafting. You will visit various Ashrams, temples and yoga and meditation centers during the day and you can even talk to the holy saints who could enlighten you about the subtle points of Hindu philosophy.

Day 3 - Day at Rishikesh
Morning proceed to rafting starting point and commence half day rafting trip down to Rishikesh. Afternoon drive to Chilla National Park with car / driver and visit the part by pre arranged. Overnight stay at the Glass House on the Ganges.

Day 4 - Drive to Corbett National Park
Early Morning drive to reach Corbett National Park. Arrive and check in at the Jungle Resort. Afternoon around 3 PM leave for your first Jungle Game view by private jeep. Overnight stay at the Jungle Resort.

Corbett is a haven for Tigers as well as its prey, which include four kinds of Deer, Wild Boar and some lesser-known animals. Leopards are mostly found in the hilly areas of the park. Some nocturnal cats found here are the Leopard Cat, Jungle Cat and Fishing Cat. Sloth Bear is found in the lower regions of the park while the Himalayan Black Bear is seen in the higher hills only. The Dole or Wild Dog, though they can be seen in the southern areas of the park along with the Jackal.

Some of the smaller residents of the park are Himalayan Palm Civet, Indian Gray Mongoose, Common Otter, Blacknaped Hare and Porcupine. Elephants are among one of the main attractions of Jim Corbett Park. Along the Ramganga River shores, one can spot the long-snouted, fish-eating Gharial Crocodile and the ‘Mugger’ Crocodile. Also seen on the rocky hillsides is the Ghoral or Goat Antelopes. The Langur and Rhesus Monkeys are well distributed through out the park and warning the whole Jungle with alarm calls when they see either a Tiger or Leopard from tree-top perches.

Day 5 - At Corbett National Park
Early morning visit the national park once again by jeep.  Afternoon Jungle Safari by Elephant. Overnight stay at the Jungle Resort.

Day 6 - Drive to Agra
Early morning leave by surface to reach Agra (around 9 hours drive). Arrive at Agra and check in at the Hotel. Rest of the evening is free to relax at the hotel. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
(Taj Mahal will remain closed today being Friday)

Day 7 - Drive to Bharatpur via Fatehpur Sikri and train to Sawai Madhopur
Morning sightseeing visit to Taj Mahal - visit to the world famous ‘Taj Mahal’ by ‘decorated tongas’. The inimitable poem in white marble, built over a period of 22 years by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1630 for his Queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. Also visit Red Fort built by three generations of Mughal Emperors starting from Akbar the Great in 1565 AD, which is a masterpiece of design and construction. It housed both the residential Palaces of the Royal family, and the military quarters.

Later check out from the Hotel and drive to reach Bharatpur Railway. En route visit to  FATEHPUR SIKRI : A fascinating ghost town, lies a little beyond Agra the deserted Red sandstone city that was built by Emperor Akbar as his capital. It was a veritable fairy tale city and its ruins are still in a pristine condition. Set like a jewel in a courtyard of pink sandstone is the marble tomb of the Saint Salim Chisti, enclosed by delicately carved marble screens.

Arrive at Bharatpur and optional visit Bharatpur Bird sanctuary (time permiting).
The park supports a population of 375 species of birds, numerous mammals and reptiles. With the onset of winter, migratory birds from all over world come here. They arrive by August and leave in February. Visitors include Coot Snipes, Spanish Sparrow, Red Crested Porhard, Rosy Pelican and Flamingo. The special attraction, however, remains the arrival of the rare Siberian Crane. The park is also rich in Pythons, Spotted Deer, Sambhars, Blue Bull, Black Buck, Jackals, Otters, Fishing Cats, Monitor Lizards.

Later proceed to Bharatpur Railway Station to board short train for Sawai Madhpur at 7.50 PM. Reach Sawai Madhopur to reach there by 10.10 PM (Train will save your good 6 hours drive from Bharatpur to Sawai Madhopur.  Met on arrival at Sawai Madhopur Railway Station and transfer to the hotel for check in. Overnight stay at the Jungle Resort.

Ranthambore National park

Day 8 - At Ranthambore National Park
Early morning pay your first visit to the Ranthambore National park for game viewing by private jeeps.  Return to the Hotel for late breakfast.  Afternoon another round of jeep safari through the park for game viewing.  Overnight at the Resort.

Ranthambore National Park is famous for its Tigers and is a favorite with photographers. For a relatively small area, the park has a rich diversity of fauna and flora - species list includes 300 trees, 50 aquatic plants, 272 birds, 12 reptiles including the Marsh Crocodile & amphibians and 30 mammals.

For the wildlife savvy, Ranthambore wildlife sanctuary today offers an intense diversity of flora and fauna. Tigers, the park's pride makes it one of the best places in the country to observe them. Apart from that a large numbers of Sambar, Chital, Nilgai, Gazzelle, Boars, Mongoose, Indian Hare, Monitor Lizards and a large number of birds.

Day 9 - Leave Ranthambore to reach Jaipur
Early morning enjoy your third jungle drive riding private jeeps. Later after breakfast at the hotel proceed to Jaipur by car (4 hours).  Arrive and check in at the hotel.  Afternoon free time at Jaipur. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 10 - Drive to Neemrana Fort
Morning after breakfast at the hotel excursion to AMBER FORT - Amber is the classic romantic Rajasthani fort palace. Its construction was started by Man Singh I in 1592, and completed by his descendent Jai Singh I. It's forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles finds it's ultimate expression. Drive pass HAWA MAHAL - The ornamental facade of this "Palace of Winds" is a prominent landmark in Jaipur. Its five-storey structure of sandstone plastered pink encrusted with fine trelliswork and elaborate balconies. The palace has 953 niches and windows. Built in 1799 by Pratap Singh, the Mahal was a royal grandstand for the palace women.

Later tour of Jaipur city where you will visit CITY PALACE - A delightful blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture, the City Palace sprawls over one-seventh of the area in the walled city. It houses the Chandra Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum and JANTAR MANTAR - This is the largest and the best preserved of the five observatories built by Jai Singh II in different parts of the country. This observatory consisting of outsized astronomical instruments is still in use.

Return to the hotel for check out and proceed to Neemrana (around 2 and half hour drive). Arrive and check in at Hotel Neemrana Fort Palace for overnight stay.

Neemrana : nestled picturesquely the rugged countryside. The Palace is situated on the hill top. 1464 AD, Neemrana Fort-Palace is among India's oldest heritage resorts. Neemrana became the third capital of the descendants of Prithviraj Chauhan III, who was killed in battle by Mohammad Ghori in 1192 AD. This picturesque site was chosen by Raja Rajdeo and Neemrana derived its name from a brave local chieftain Nimola Meo, who when defeated by the Chauhans, pleaded that his name be given to his lost kingdom.

Day 11- At Neemrana
Full day free at Neemrana to explore this Fort Hotel, its surroundings, adjoining village and facilities available at this fort hotel.  Overnight at the hotel.

Day 12 - leave for Delhi from Neemrana
Morning after breakfast after breakfast at the hotel proceed to Delhi and check in at Hotel Ashok Country Resort on arrival. Afternoon commence combined sightseeing tour of Old and new Delhi.

In Old Delhi visit Red Fort, Jama Masjid, drive past Chandni Chowk and visit Raj Ghat - the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi.

In New Delhi visit Qutab Minar - 234 feet height tower, nearby stands the Iron pillar, the Tomb of Mughal Emperor Humayun, the modern Birla Mandir Temple. Drive past India Gate (War Memorial), President’s House, which was once the viceroy’s Palace, Parliament House and Secretarial Buildings.
Overnight at the hotel.

Day 13 - leave Delhi
Late in the night of 20th April, 2006 met your airport representative and car with driver and leave for International Airport to board your Alitalia flight at 2.35 AM
